Free Soul review + protein ice cream recipe

Hey there! I’ glad you came on here. It seem to me that you are interested in different protein powder reviews and of course in finding the best one for you so that you can progress in your fitness yourney 🙂 I am always really happy to see that people are striving to progress and to change their lifestyle for better!

Because I know how hard it is to find the right protein powder for your needs and goals I decided to make that choice easier for you by giving you my honest review of the whey protein from Free Soul. Also, after reading, there is a little delicious surprise for you, so don’t skip the end 😉

I have to be honest with you, I have tried so many different protein brands so far and because of it, I do have a set opinion about what I am looking for when buying protein powder. As I am lactose intolerant and gluten-free I always try to find a protein powder which falls into those categories. Also, I know that many people are turning vegan and that finding a good protein powder that doesn’t taste like shit is very hard, but I have a little help for that! If you are looking for an honest review of some vegan proteins, check out my post about my review of 3 vegan protein powders.

Let me get back to the FREE SOUL protein powder. So as I have said, I tried a lot of protein powders and after trying this one I could easily make my own opinion about the flavour, texture and many other aspects. I will rate each of the categories with a range of 1-5 where 5 is the best grade. Here is what I think:

TEXTURE: 3- Depending on the liquid you are using the texture will differ. If used with water the texture of the protein does feel a little flecky, but if used with any kind of milk then it is great. I tried both versions and I prefer the water mixed protein, only after I mix everything on high speed in my blender.
SWEETNESS: 4- Just the right sweetness. I can even say that it tastes similar to vanilla ice cream.
OVERALL FLAVOUR: 5 – Not too sweet, not fake and just great for a good, tasty protein shake.
BLENDING: 3 – If blended with a blender it tastes great, but if only mixed by hand then you can definitely still feel some of the pieces of the protein.
PROTEIN BASE: Whey protein concentrate
PROTEIN / SERVING:  20g (5.1g CH, 2g F, 1g Fibre)

  • gluten-free
  • GMO free
  • vegetarian
  • no MPC
  • natural flavoring

In conclusion, I can say that the protein is definitely better than proteins like MyProtein, Protein World and Bob’s Red Mill protein. However, it is definitely not in the same class as proteins from Dymatize and Optimum nutrition. I truly like it, but would definitely prefer it is was also lactose free so that it would be easier to digest. Also I have to put out that it contaions additional ingredients like:

  • Vitamin B1, B3,B6 & B12
  • L-carnitine
  • Maca
  • Iron
  • Calcium
  • Biotin
  • Flax seeds
